Message from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Staten Island 's Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. The division's wide-ranging undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, and interdisciplinary majors carefully prepare students to meet the intellectual and specialized challenges of their chosen careers. Offering more than forty baccalaureate degrees, eight graduate programs, and a post-graduate Leadership in Education certificate, the division provides a comprehensive range of academic disciplines. The division has over two hundred full-time faculty members with well-established national and international reputations in their respective fields of study and who excel at integrating scholarly research and creative work into their teaching. The results are dynamic and cutting-edge classes that provide meaningful and exciting faculty-student interactions. Dedication to faculty collaboration and respect for the traditions of a strong and well-balanced liberal arts education are reflected in the inclusion of the Education and Business Departments as integral members of the division. Across our many disciplines, we apply the highest standards of excellence yet we are sensitive to students' needs and academic assessment. The Division of Humanities and Social Sciences' commitment to student success underscores the College of Staten Island's pledge to "Expect Excellence." I invite you to explore our website.
