 Conditional Admission at the College of Staten Island

Students, who at the time of applying, do not have a proof of English language proficiency but are otherwise admissible to the college, may apply for conditional admission. English language proficiency requirement must be met by taking the institutional TOEFL exam offered at the college and submitting the required score. At the graduate level, College of Staten Island is offering conditional admission to the applicants interested in the following master’s degree programs: Cinema and Media Studies (MA), Education (MSEd), English (MA), History (MA), Liberal Studies (MA), Mental Health Counseling (MA – Fall admission only), Neuroscience, Mental Retardation, and Developmental Disabilities (MS), and Nursing (MS).

How to apply for conditional admission to the college of Staten Island/CUNY

Please complete the English Language Institute application and submit it along with a $100 application fee.

If you wish to apply as a first year undergraduate student to the college, we require the following documents to be submitted:

  • Application
  • Non-refundable application fee of $65
  • Copies of secondary school records
  • Photocopy of certified translation of all academic records that are not in English

If you wish to apply as an undergraduate transfer student to the college, we require the following documents to be submitted:

  • Application
  • Non-refundable application fee of $70
  • Copies of secondary school records with a proof of graduation
  • Official post-secondary academic records. For more information, please click here.
  • Photocopy of certified translation of all academic records that are not in English

Please submit the original current bank statement or financial guarantee letter to the above address. Students who are conditionally admitted receive an I-20 from the English Language Institute with a conditional acceptance letter from the College of Staten Island. In order to have an I-20 issued, international students need to provide a proof of financial resources to pay for their studies in the US.
