CUNY Black Male Initiative at CSI/ College Success Initiative, Learning by Teaching Program
What is the College Success Initiative Learning by Teaching Program?
The College Success Initiative: Learning by Teaching Program is a comprehensive support program created to increase college graduation rates for historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students. This program was designed by The City University of New York (CUNY) to recruit and retain underrepresented students, especially males, at the college level. The College Success Initiative: Learning by Teaching Project was created to strengthen the high school to college pipeline and enable more students from historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged backgrounds into higher education. Our purpose is to help students achieve their educational goals while attending the College of Staten Island and provide support that will ensure students graduate with degrees in professional areas of study. The BMI /CSI program provides mentoring, tutoring and paid internships that will enable students to view themselves as professionals.
