Who is Eligible?
All students interested in pursuing an academic degree are eligible to participate. Applicants for the program must be willing to interact in monthly meetings with mentors and to participate in college awareness workshops, personal development seminars, and career exploration. Students must also be committed to their studies with the desire to achieve academic excellence. Admitted students who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are invited to serve as ambassadors and tutors at Curtis and Port Richmond High Schools. Students with grade point averages of 2.0 and lower will serve as apprentices and shadow scholars until their grade point average reaches a minimum of 3.0.
Students enrolled in other state–funded opportunity programs (CSTEP, LSAMP, HEOP, EOP, or SEEK) are also eligible to participate in the BMI /CSI program.
