Career counseling assists students with career development and life planning. Counselors help students understand and clarify their interests, abilities, and values as they relate to the choice of a major and a career.
Students may complete interest and personality surveys, use computerized career programs, and complete other assessment instruments that the counselor recommends. Career counselors also help students utilize various resources that provide information on their fields of interest, the world of work, and on college majors and programs.
Career counseling spans several sessions with a counselor and involves your commitment and active participation. Career counselors do not tell you what is best for you, but facilitate your own professional growth.
