The department offers the Bachelor's degree in Spanish and courses in French and Italian. Minors in these languages are also offered. Courses in Chinese and American Sign Language are under the aegis of the department. In addition to mastery of the language, through classroom and language laboratory work, the literature, culture, and history of the countries are studied.
