ART 125 Portrait Drawing I
4 hours; 3 credits
Basic study of the human head and facial expressions with particular attention to the problems of portraiture. Students are introduced to basic concepts of proportion, perspective, anatomy, and drawing the human head/figure from observation. Various drawing media may be employed, such as: charcoal, pencil, conté crayon, and/or pastel. Studio classes are tutorial by nature and are supplemented by group critiques, outside assignments, museum visits, written papers, and student presentations. NOTE: This course has a material fee.
