ENL 326 European Literature of the Romantic Period
4 hours; 4 credits
Readings in European literature and related intellectual texts of the Romantic period with a view toward tracing the emergence of a modern consciousness. Authors may include: Rousseau, Goethe, Schiller, Hölderlin, Hugo, Leopardi, Byron, Wollstonecraft, Pushkin, and Madame de Stael. For English majors or minors concentrating in literature, this course fulfills the requirements for literature in translation. For linguistics, writing, and dramatic literature concentrators, it counts as an elective in the major.
Prerequisite: An ENH 200-level course or ENL 290
