A survey of the main political, social, economic, and intellectual currents of the 19th and 20th centuries. Emphasis on historical background and development of current problems in the region. Topics of study include imperialism, religion, culture, women, class formation, oil, and the Arab-Israeli conflict. For History majors and minors, this is designated as a world history course.
