The development of modern theories of the state, with emphasis on democracy and theories of representation, the forces underlying political change and revolution, and the growth of "collectivism." Such authors as Locke, Rousseau, Hegel, Mill, and Marx will be read. (social science) NOTE: This course satisfies the College Option.
