PSY 340 Mentoring and Adolescent Development

3 class hours, 2 fieldwork hours; 4 credits
Introduction to the developmental concerns and clinical skills needed to form mentoring relationships with at-risk adolescent populations. Course work entails review of the literature on mentoring as well as specific issues regarding adolescent development, with an emphasis on gender identity. Other topics addressed may include race, ethnicity, class, and sexual orientation. Students do on-site mentoring under faculty supervision and have the opportunity to evaluate these fieldwork experiences in class.
