CUNYfirst Service Alert

CUNYfirst User Community:

This coming weekend, (August 2, 4pm, to August 3, 2014, 6pm), professionals from around CUNY will conduct the annual CUNYfirst Disaster Recovery Drill. During that time, subject matter experts will perform tasks they would do if the primary CUNYfirst System were to shut down unexpectedly.

The drill will help us learn how quickly we can react to such a scenario, make our backup system available to users, and restore the primary servers to full capacity for our user community.

CUNYfirst is hosted outside the New York City area, near Atlanta, Georgia, as a way to ensure that when emergencies happen here (weather, power interruption, etc.) that the system keeps working normally. Our backup system resides near Memphis, Tennessee. We will use both of these systems in our drill this weekend.

All users, with the exception of folks who are participating in the drill, will be unable to log into CUNYfirst. We'll send a message out to our Colleges and University Offices to share with all users when the system is available again on Sunday, August 2, around 6pm. We'll report out how we did in a future communication.

Thank you for your patience in supporting this very important exercise. Please share this with your colleagues and students at your colleges and offices.
