Student Leadership on Campus
CSI Student Leadership Conference
Friday, November 14, 2014
The CSI Office of Student Life creates educationally purposeful experiences for students that promote leadership, involvement, and success. Recognizing the potential for growth and learning in all facets of campus life, our office in conjunction with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders provide innovative and experiential learning opportunities. Through these partnerships, programs and activities, our students receive training and skill development to prepare them for leadership in today’s dynamically diverse and changing world.
Our student leadership programs here at CSI are based on the social change model, which approaches leadership as a collaborative, purposeful, values-based process that results in positive social change. The Office of Student Life works to empower our students to build their capacity not only to lead, but to actively make a difference in their world through a range of leadership development opportunities.
Student leadership activities can help students better manage their academic life and improve group interactions to achieve mutual goals. Individual and collaborative leadership skills are prized in any career. The College of Staten Island offers students many opportunities to develop their knowledge and personal leadership skills. Our programs aim to provide a foundation for students to become culturally competent, socially just and engaged civic leaders.
