The College of Staten Island Medical Technology B.S. Program is in the process of gaining NAACLS accreditation, leading to a national recognition of our Program.
As of December 15, 2011, our Program has attained "serious applicant" status. This status allows our graduates to take the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) exam immediately after clinical training. This prestigious exam allows for national recognition for our students, as opposed to only New York State licensure previously allowed.
We are excited to begin the next stage of NAACLS accreditation - the NAACLS site visit, taking place on April 23 and April 24, 2012. After the site visit, the NAACLS team will make a recommendation to the agency, leading to the prospect of full accreditation in July, 2012.
