About Office of Design Services

About the Office

The Office of Design Services is responsible for administering the College’s visual identity as it relates to publications, printed materials, and advertising.

The focus of our Design Services program is both internal (on-campus) and external (off-campus) College relations. The office produces most College publications, including the course catalogs and some 300 other pieces annually to recruit new students and provide information to the College community. Dozens of these publications are in production at any given time. We take on new projects when possible, but any new publications must not disrupt the projects we are already committed to producing.

Our Design Services range from brochures and advertising to large-scale projects such as the Admissions viewbook and the course catalogs. Some are funded by the Office of Design Services’ annual budget while others are paid for by other offices and departments on campus. We have no “discretionary fund” for projects not in our budget.

Our office can provide any or all of the following services on most projects: writing, copyediting, design and layout, photography, proofreading, and printing. If our workload does not permit us to accept a particular project, we can suggest freelance professionals with whom you can negotiate directly about the cost, schedule, and quality of your publication.

Types of Design Services we can produce:

  • brochures
  • newsletters
  • annual reports
  • College course catalogs and student handbooks
  • admissions marketing materials for prospective students
  • posters for major College-wide events
Hints & Tips

Publication Tip #7

Word Processing "Don'ts"

Don’t press the Spacebar twice between sentences. When we all used monospace typewriters, this made sense, but it doesn’t with word processors. Only use one space.
