Biography / Academic Interests
: David Allen’s research has focused on collaborative teacher inquiry and assessment of student learning. He is currently studying theater artists’ collaborative practices and how these can be related to those of teacher learning groups. He has been a researcher at the National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools and Teaching (NCREST), Teachers College, Columbia University; Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education; and the Coalition of Essential Schools, Brown University. Professor Allen has taught English and ESL at the elementary, secondary, college, and adult education levels. He received a Fulbright fellowship to study school reform in Poland.
