Biography / Academic Interests :
Dr. Vijverberg is an applied-macro economist and statistician.  Before joining the faculty at the College of Staten Island, she taught at the University of Texas-Dallas and Wichita State University.  She has broad research interests.  One line of research is applying the Generalized Tukey Lambda (GTL) distribution in a discrete choice model and in a financial risk measurement model.  Another line of research uses Markov-Switching techniques in macro empirics, e.g., to examine inflation dynamics, output dynamics and business cycle synchronization.  The business cycle synchronization issues are related to the Eurozone and the classical gold standard regimes.  Other areas of research include non-stationary time series modeling, production/productivity and income inequality.
