Biography / Academic Interests
:
Elena McCoy’s academic interests include program development in the areas of science education and the Allied Health Sciences. Professor McCoy currently serves as the Biology representative to the Teacher Academy, is a member of the Environmental Science Center and directs the Medical Technology Undergraduate Program in the Biology Department. Her research interests are concerned with the metabolism and biological activity of environmental agents. Dr. McCoy advises graduate, undergraduate and high school students with interests in laboratory research. Current projects include studies on the biological activity of plasticizer endocrine disruptors and effects of the neuronal tau protein on filamentation in a yeast system and the antimutagenic activity of curcumin derivatives in the Salmonella short term assay.
