Biography / Academic Interests
: Professor Matveev teaches courses in management, organizational behavior and international management courses. Dr. Matveev has taught as a Visiting Professor at Johns Hopkins University, Shanghai University, China, and IPAG Business School, France. He was awarded a 2005 CUNY Publications Fellowship, a 2008 University of Connecticut CIBER Award to attend the Faculty Development in International Business Program in India, and a 2008 College of State Island Travel Award to participate in the Professional Development Seminar for Educators in China and Hong Kong. Dr. Matveev has presented at the World on Wednesday Lecture Series, the International Student Orientations, and assisted the Center for International Service in hosting numerous international scholars. He also serves on the College of State Island’s Curriculum Committee and contributes to the CUNY Hybrid Initiative through on-line/hybrid instruction.
Scholarship / Publications
: Professor Matveev’s research interests include international and cross-cultural management, intercultural competence, and the scholarship of teaching and learning in business education. He is the creator of an intercultural competence model that helps in understanding the nuances of human interaction among members of culturally diverse professional teams. Born and educated in Russia, and further cultured and skilled in the U.S., Asia and Europe, Dr. Marveev brings his unique perspective and energy to academic and corporate learners in their quest for effective, appropriate, and sensitive intercultural interactions in diverse multicultural business contexts. Dr. Matveev has served as an Associate Editor of the Springer Science and Business Series “Educational Innovations in Economics and Business.” His research and scholarship appear in many publications, including Innovations in Education and Teaching International, Journal of Business Research, and International Journal of Cross Cultural Management.
