Biography / Academic Interests
: Professor Giordano brings over 30 years of clinical nursing experience in critical care and hospital administration to the academic setting. Her interests include adult and pediatric burn care and leadership & management in nursing. Her current research focuses on adolescent and young adult burn survivors’ adaptation to consequences of the burn injury and the role social media may have.
Professor Giordano is active in professional organizations including NYSNA, the American Burn Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She is active in political issues regarding scope of practice and healthcare. In addition, she received the Mary Mastrandrea Humanitarian Award for her commitment to fund raising for pediatric burn victims. Professor Giordano is a member of the Honorary Fire Officers Association of the City of New York.
