Biography / Academic Interests :
My general area of literary study and the emphasis of my teaching is contemporary Ethnic and African American woman’s narrative. The principal concern of my research is inherited traumatic memory. In particular, I study novels and memoirs that portray a protagonist going through a process of exploring cultural and historical traumas experienced by parents or ancestors, analyzing their relationship to their familial past, and constructing their contemporary identity in relation to their familial, cultural and historical past.
