Biography / Academic Interests :
Aaron Gilbreath (Assistant Professor of Geography) received his M.A. in American Studies (2007) and his Ph.D. in Geography (2012) from the University of Kansas.  Aaron’s primary interests lie in the human/cultural side of the discipline, where he combines historical geography with cultural and economic theory along with GIS and statistical analysis to study the drug trade.  His research to date has focused on the history of the production, distribution, and use of methamphetamine in the United States.  Moving forward, Aaron is interested in studying the evolution of two different forms of organized crime, Outlaw Motor Cycle Gangs and Mexican Drug-Trafficking Organizations.
