Biography / Academic Interests
: Dalia Kandiyoti researches and teaches comparative diaspora and ethnic studies as well as gender studies. She has specialized in Latina/o literature, comparative studies of ethnicity and race in the Americas, as well as in global Jewish studies. She is also interested in multilingualism in literature. Prof. Kandiyoti teaches on modernity and culture in the Science, Letters, and Society program and, as Women’s Studies faculty, on global studies of women and gender.
Scholarships / Publications
: She has a forthcoming book from the University Press of New England (Fall 2009) entitled Migrant Sites: America, Place, and Diaspora Literatures. She has published articles on Latina literature, transnational identities and gender, place in Holocaust writing, Sephardic history in literature, and alterity in French literature in journals such as Modern Fiction Studies, Genders, Contemporary Literature, and MELUS.
