Biography / Academic Interests
: Professor Matveev serves as the Liaison Officer of the Eastern Academy of Management to CSI and mentors Undergraduate Research Fellows, Emerging Leaders Program Fellows, and members of the International Affairs Association. He was the Chair of the Organizing Committee and a Scientific Committee member for the 11th Educational Innovations in Economics and Business International Conference (2004). Alexei has presented at the World on Wednesday Lecture Series, the International Student Orientations, and the Distinguished Speaker Pierson Lecture Series at Texas State University. Professor Matveev is an active member of the CSI and global professional communities. He has worked as a management consultant with Deloitte & Touché and The World Bank on international development and corporate restructuring projects in Eastern Europe.
Scholarships / Publications
: Professor Matveev has published extensively on international and cross-cultural management, effectiveness of professional multicultural teams, and the innovative approaches in business education. He is a creator of the Cross-cultural Communication Competence Model (2004) that helps in understanding the nuances of human interaction among members of diverse work teams. Alexei’s most recent research is on constructivism in active learning and the Team Infomercial Assignment as an innovative pedagogy learning tool. Professor Matveev is a recipient of the CUNY Faculty Publication Award and the PSC CUNY Research Award for the cross-cultural human personality and nostalgia-proneness research in Russia (with Professor Holak). He is a member of the Editorial Board of Routledge Journal of Intercultural Communication Research. Alexei has served as an Associate Editor of the Springer Science and Business Series “Educational Innovations in Economics and Business.” His scholarly research is published by the International Journal of Cross Cultural Management, Team Performance Management Journal, Journal of Business Research, and Innovations in Education and Teaching International.
