Biography / Academic Interests :
Professor Morreale has been a performing free lance musician for over 30 years in NYC metropolitan area. He led the SI Chamber Music Players Jazz Quartet for 25 years from 1983 to the group’s dissolution. He currently leads and composes for his own groups (combo to large ensemble) in the jazz idiom. His recordings include the Jazz Quintet “Straight Up” based in Santa Fe, NM, and recordings and tours with recording artist Joe Jackson. Professor Morreale began teaching at CSI as an Adjunct in 1995 and in 2003 he was awarded the CSI Dolphin Award for outstanding teaching by an Adjunct Professor. Professor Morreale was appointed as full time lecturer at CSI in 2009; teaching Jazz Ensembles and related jazz courses in history and theory. He also teaches trumpet, music theory, and instrumentation.
