Biography / Academic Interests :
Professor Scarinci is on the Board of Directors of the New York State CPA Society’s Staten Island chapter.  She has been the Chairperson of the Society’s Annual Education Night for the past four years.  She has served on the College Curriculum Committee and the CUNY Proficiency Committee.  She is currently a committee representative for the Honors College, as well as a DMX Faculty Mentor.

Scholarships / Publications :
Cynthia Scarinci’s research focuses on two main areas, auditing and small business.  In the area of auditing, she has published two articles on the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, and is currently researching the impact of this legislation on internal audit and audit committees.  In the area of small business, she published her first article on small business contingency planning in 2002. She has conducted disaster recover and contingency planning surveys of small businesses that have survived disaster, with the assistance of the Small Business Administration. She is presently preparing a secondary survey on this topic to gather additional information from small businesses subsequent to Hurricane Katrina.
