Biography / Academic Interests

Aron Weiss is involved in developing two new courses, “Forensic Accounting,” about detecting fraud and executive incompetence and “Financial Statement Analysis.” When approved, both courses will be considered for a Masters in Management offering. Professor Weiss has also written articles for professional publications on anticipating corporate collapse. In 1987 he taught for six months in the Peoples Republic of China and has lectured to business executives in Poland on accounting practices.

He regularly attends accounting education seminars to keep up with new innovations in the field. In addition, Professor Weiss has a great interest in, and knowledge of Wall Street, having worked for many years in public accounting and finance in his earlier professional life. He has spoken about Wall Street to numerous groups of visiting Russian business people as well as students and faculty. His extensive business experience makes him well qualified to prepare his students for accounting and business careers.
As an active member of the Staten Island Transportation Improvement Committee Mr.Weiss worked to improve public bus transportation from Brooklyn to Staten Island for students and teachers. He is a member of the CSI Speakers Bureau and is involved with the Job and Internship Fair as well as the Internship Committee at the college.
