Employees are required to complete forms, present documents, and in some cases pay filing or other fees on the day of or prior to the first day of work. These forms and documents are required by the federal, state or CUNY regulations. Federal law requires that the college hire citizens and nationals of the United States and aliens authorized to work in the US. To comply with this law, each prospective employee must provide documents that verify his/her identity and employment eligibility and complete the U.S. Department of Justice document called I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification). This document must be completed in 72 hours of employment and may be completed prior to the initial start date of employment. Each employee will be required to provide documents that the U.S. Department of Justice authorizes as acceptable. Please see the sample Form I-9 and the list of acceptable documents.
