Staten
Island is one of the five boroughs in New
York City which also includes Manhattan,
Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx. Staten Island
has a population of approximately 443,000.
The island is 14 miles long and 8 miles
wide and is mainly residential. Staten Island
residents commute to Manhattan by ferry,
which takes twenty-five minutes and goes
to lower Manhattan; by express bus, which
may take over an hour and goes to mid-town
Manhattan; and by car.
The College
of Staten Island (CSI) is the only City
University of New York college located on
Staten Island. It offers students an unusual
opportunity to experience life in New York
City, while enjoying quite suburban neighborhoods
and studying on a large and beautiful 204
– acre campus, completed in 1994.
The campus is located in the Willowbrook
