Staten Island is one of the five boroughs of New York City which also includes Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx. Staten Island has a population of approximately 470,000. The Island is 14 miles long and 8 miles wide and is mainly residential. Staten Island residents commute to Manhattan by ferry, which takes twenty-five minutes and goes to lower Manhattan by express bus, which may take over an hour and goes to mid-town Manhattan and by car.
CSI is the only City University of New York located on Staten Island. It offers students an unusual opportunity to experience life in New York City, while enjoying quiet suburban neighborhoods and
studying on a large and beautiful 204 – acre campus, completed in 1994. The campus is located
in the Willowbrook section of Staten Island. A Loop Bus provides free transportation within campus. Ride free from St. George Staten Island Ferry Terminal to CSI campus. (Campus map attached)
