Center
The Campus Center (1C) is the focal point
of extra-curricular student life. It houses
the Office of Student Life, the Student
Government and clubs and student publications.
Such services as the bookstore, Cafeteria,
the College Health Center, the Wellness
Program, and the Peer Drop-in Center are
located in the Campus Center. Lounges
for entertainment and studying, a computer
lab, a video game room, conference and
meeting rooms, and lockers are available
for student use. WSIA-FM (88.9) broadcasts
from the Campus Center.

entertainment. The Center houses wonderful
spaces for students studying art, music,
and drama, as well as superb public spaces:
the Williamson Theater, a 900-seat concert
hall, a recital hall, an experimental

Counseling

Comprehensive academic and personal counseling
services are provided by professional
counselors to help students achieve academic
success. In individual or group sessions,
students are assisted in improving their
study skills, choosing a curriculum compatible
with their interest and career goals,
and handling problems that impede their

& Wellness Services

The College Health Center, located on
the main floor of the Campus Center (1C),
Room 112, is staffed by part-time nurse
practitioners in collaboration with Staten
Island University Hospital and College
personnel. Nurse Practitioners and a full-time
Registered Nurse are available for College
physicals, emergency care, consultations,
immunizations, smoking cessation, HIV/AIDS
counseling and testing, and other services.

The Wellness Program Office (1C-122) presents
an integrated array of special events,
seminars and workshops, and counseling
services with a common goal of educating
the College community about wellness issues.
Professional counseling and intervention
services concerning substance abuse, HIV/AIDS,
domestic violence, stress management,
date rape, and other general health and
nutrition issues are coordinated by this
Office. A Peer-Drop In Center is staffed
by trained Peer Educators who meet with
students and provide information.
Sports
and Recreation Center

You don’t have to be an athlete
to thoroughly enjoy this state-of-the-art
facility. The Sports and Recreation Center
(1R) houses a full range of facilities
and equipment for individual and team
sports and games: a gymnasium with seating
capacity for 1,200 spectators, an auxiliary
gymnasium, two fitness rooms, five racquetball
courts, and a 25-meter, eight-lane pool.
Outdoor facilities include a track, soccer
stadium, tennis courts, basket courts,
handball courts, and softball fields.

Library

The Library is equipped with state-of-the-art
technology, which enables librarians to
retrieve non-traditional formats of information
from beyond the walls of the building
through online, satellite, and fiber-optic
technology. The Library's Media Services
makes accessible pedagogical multimedia
materials to distant classrooms and laboratories
by means of the campus fiber-optic network.
The Library's total collection
consists of approximately 210,000 books;
1425 current journal subscriptions; 54
electronic databases; 1500 videos and
films; and over 4000 sound recordings.
In addition, the Library also maintains
a collection of current textbooks donated
by the CSI Student Government. These,
and other course materials, are available
at the Reserve Desk.
The Library's online catalog,
CUNY Plus, provides complete access to
the library's books, newspapers, and periodicals,
including access to holdings of other
CUNY libraries. Wireless laptops are rented
to students to use throughout the Library
Building. The Library also houses Instructional
Support Services and the Food for Thought
Cafe.

The mission of the Department of Public
Safety (DPS) is to provide a safe and
secure campus for our college community.
Each member of the DPS is committed to
providing service with the highest degree
of integrity, concern and respect for
individual rights.
The
Campus Public Safety Department is staffed
by Campus Peace Officers and uniformed
contract personnel 24 hours a day, 365
days a year. The main Public Safety office
is located in the North Administration
Building (2A), room 108. There are two
Public Safety satellite desks located
at the front entrances of The Campus Center
(1C) and the Library Building (1L).

building is equipped with an in-house
