Study Abroad Programs at CSI

The College of Staten Island offers a wide range of study abroad and exchange programs for its students.  Study abroad programs at the College of Staten Island enable students to explore the traditions and modern realities of the world from another perspective. Program requirements vary, with no previous language study required for most programs. A range of financial aid and scholarship opportunities are available.

Students from other CUNY colleges or other universities may apply for CSI's programs administered through the College Consortium for International Studies, CCIS.

Programs Administered by CSI

The College of Staten Island administers a variety of academic programs abroad that include the following:

  1. Exchange Ambassador Programs (semester/year)
  2. Study Abroad Programs through CCIS in China, Denmark, Ecuador, Greece, Italy (summer/semester/year)
  3. Study Abroad Programs at other partners in Belgium, Japan, England, Spain (summer)
  4. January Winter Session Programs in China, Ecuador, Italy
  5. CSI Faculty-Led Courses Abroad (winter/summer)

How to apply for CSI-administered programs abroad

For exchange and partner-based study abroad programs, students should consult our “Study Abroad Application Packet in pdf format”.
For faculty-led programs, students should submit the 2-page Overseas Study Application form to the professor of record or may consult with the Center for International Service for more information.

Financial Aid and Scholarships for Study Abroad

CSI students who apply to study abroad should look into the following opportunities to finance the program:

  1. Financial Aid Information and Resources via the Campus Financial Aid Office
  2. CUNY's SIROCS Scholarship – open to students who meet the eligibility requirements beginning Summer 2014
  3. CSI Program Scholarships – grants and scholarships are available for applicants matriculated at CSI ranging from full semester grants to study in Florence, Italy to $500 - $1000 awards for several programs, such as Greece and China
  4. Additional Outside Scholarships and Resources such as the Gilman, Boren, and Freeman-Asia awards

Programs Administered by other CUNY Colleges open to CSI Students

College of Staten Island students may apply for participation in a range of programs administered by other CUNY campuses. Most of these programs are offered during the January winter session and summer sessions, while some semester programs are also available. CSI students would apply directly to the host CUNY college for admission in the program, but must also complete this “2-page application form” and ultimately additional paperwork for course approval to register via the CUNY e-permit system with the Center for International Service.
