Financial Aid Information for Matriculated CSI Students

If you currently receive financial aid, and have filed a FAFSA application that covers your intended period of study, you may be able to use existing aid or increase aid in the form of loans or grants (such as direct loans, Pell grants, etc).

After you have applied for a specific program, you should request to receive an Overseas Expense Verification Form. This cost breakdown will allow adjustments to your educational budget that can impact your eligibility for financial aid.

If you have filed the FAFSA, and applied for a program, and received the Overseas Expense Verification Form, then you may make an appointment with the Student Financial Aid Office, by phone (718-982-2030) or in person (Bldg. 2A, Room 401). Identify yourself as a Study Abroad Student so that they schedule you to meet with the appropriate financial aid advisor at CSI.

Please know that TAP (NY State grant) is not applicable to study abroad programs based at institutions where CSI has an agreement to pay out tuition for your study abroad program. TAP is applicable for exchange programs and for most faculty-led programs where funds are not leaving the college to pay tuition at an overseas school.

CSI Program Scholarship Information

CUNY’s Macaulay Honors College students should consult with the academic advisor on your home campus about the procedures for applying for Opportunities Funds to be applied to study abroad program costs.

Students in CSI’s Verrazano School Honors Program should consult with the advising office of this program about scholarship opportunities, deadlines, and procedures to apply for study abroad scholarships for Verrazano students that were first offered in 2011-12.
CSI students may be eligible to apply for additional scholarships for summer, winter intersession, and semester programs as below. All grants are awarded to students based on their ability to benefit from their participation in a study abroad program. Academic merit and financial need are also taken into consideration. CSI students may pick up a CSI Study Abroad Grant Application in the Center for International Service in 2A-206 during afternoon study abroad open advising hours between 2-4pm.
