A cuboctahedron is a regular solid with 14 sides, composed of six squares and eight equilateral triangles.  Inspired by the opportunities and challenges of the Middle States Commission’s 14 Characteristics of Excellence, the College of Staten Island has adopted this symbol as a unifying representation of our community’s focus on assessment and institutional effectiveness to support and improve the experiences of all of our constituents.

The cuboctahedron appears throughout our reaccreditation documents and has been featured in our bi-weekly campus communiqué, Fortnight, which focuses on issues related to assessment and institutional effectiveness.
