IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW
BEFORE APPLYING FOR GRADUATION

•  There are three graduation terms a year, January 31 st, June 30 th, and August 31 st.

•  The deadlines to apply for graduation are March 1 st for the spring and the summer term and October 1 st for the fall term.

•  To apply for graduation you must have completed a minimum of 34 credits to apply for an associate degree; 94 credits must be completed for baccalaureate degrees, and 15-34 credits based on the total number of credits required for the Master's degree. Applicants who have not completed the minimum credits required to apply for graduation will be automatically denied without further review.

•  Effective fall 2003, all students admitted to a degree program, regardless of date of entry, are required to pass the CPE. The exam is only given three times a year; April, June and October. Students holding Bachelor’s or other advanced degrees are exempted from the CPE.

•  If your application has been audited and you have been denied graduation for the requested term, YOU MUST REAPPLY for graduation to be considered for the following semester.

•  Your name will not appear in the Commencement Program or newspaper if you have completed a "Request to Prevent Disclosure of Directory Information."
To remove the privacy notice and allow your name to be published, you must notify the Office of the Registrar in writing no later than March 16.

We recommend that all students consult the College of Staten Island catalog and seek academic and/or departmental advisement prior to applying for graduation to ensure that their degree requirements are met by the time of graduation. Once you have applied for graduation you can receive detailed information about deficient degree requirements by checking your application status online. You can view your unofficial transcript on eSIMS to confirm that you have fulfilled all of your degree requirements. Upon successful completion of all outstanding course work and a final review of the degree requirements, you will be awarded your degree.
