How can I send and get attachments?
One of the most common questions or problems that occur when using the pmail is how do I send an attachment or how do I retrieve an attachment. Here are a few simple steps:

To send an attachment:

  1. Select send a mail message - Select < F7>.
  2. Press the insert key and a menu will appear asking you for a file name. Type in the file path (i.e. C: or A:) and the name of the file and extension. For example the path of a word document saved on the A Drive would be A:NAME OF DOCUMENT.DOC. Press Enter.
  3. Enter file type (word, excel, etc.) and press enter.
  4. Encoding, leave at pmail will decide, press Enter again.
  5. Accept and continue hit (Y).
  6. You will now see the name of your attachment. Press CONTROL-ENTER to send message.

To retrieve an attachment you must open the document.

  1. Press X to extract the attachment.
  2. Press Y for yes and the name of the file will appear. Make sure you remove any quotation marks around the file.
  3. Type where you want the file to be sent (i.e A:TEST.DOC) and place a disk in the A drive and press Enter.
  4. You can now close your e-mail and open the attachment in Word or whatever other program the document may be in.
How can I access my email from home?

You can POP your email from home. All you need is an Internet Service Provider. Find the mail options and go to:

    2. Incoming mail POP3 Server: mail.csi.cuny.edu
    3. Enter your User Name and then your password.

When you are done, you can return to your inbox and click the option to POP mail. Once this option is activated all off your new unread messages will appear.
