Jennifer Borrero has been a part of the City University of New York (CUNY) for the past 17 years. Most recently Jennifer served as the University Dean for Recruitment, Diversity, and Compliance in the Office of Recruitment and Diversity. In her 17-year tenure at CUNY, her portfolio has covered recruitment, diversity, and compliance at both the College and System-wide levels.
Jennifer’s breadth of institutional experience has made her a leading expert on the complex role of diversity, equity and inclusion in a large system of public higher education. As University Dean, Jennifer spearheaded a variety of University-wide diversity strategies, initiatives, and plans to leverage the power of diversity at CUNY. She also had executive oversight for the recruiting unit, introducing system-wide improvements to capitalize on new technologies, facilitated the introduction of branding strategies and launched cutting-edge recruitment tactics. Jennifer also directed Equal Employment Opportunity compliance activities to ensure that CUNY implemented appropriate policies and educational programs system-wide, and she represented CUNY with external constituencies including elected officials. Long known for her advocacy of the public good, Jennifer has been the recipient of many awards, such as the University’s Inclusive Excellence and Diversity Award, the Award for Minority Access and the Award for Facilitating Student Success.
Jennifer received her undergraduate degree in political science from Hampton University, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Creighton University and a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Baruch College.
