Graduate Program in Special Education Adolescence Generalist, Sequence 1
In order to assure the quality of our education programs and compliance with state and national accreditation standards, CSI’s Education Department collects information from the students in our programs. This information is used to assess the operations of the programs and overall department—not individual students.
Role of Tk20
Most of the information that students must submit are done through Tk20, the online data management system used by department to securely collect and house these data.
Getting a Tk20 Account
Students must purchase a Tk20 account in order to use this system. An account costs $103 and can be purchased by going to the Tk20 login page and clicking on the “Click here to purchase your student account” link to do just that.
Duration of a Tk20 Account
An account is active for 7 years. The lifetime of an active account can be extended by sending a request to Dr. Samuels to do so; however, once an account becomes inactive (viz., after its expiration date), it can only be re-activated by purchasing a new account. Therefore, it is important that you request an extension if you believe you may have use of your account beyond its expiration date. Purchase errors can be resolved as long as they are handled quickly and in accordance with Tk20’s refund policy.
The uses of Tk20 are explained below. Additional help is available through these tutorials.
What Students Need to Do
The following table notes what students need to do concerning assessment. More information is given about these requirements below the table.
|Submit Key Assignments Through Tk20||Throughout Program|
|Complete Exit Survey in Tk20||End of Program|
Further Details about the Requirements
Students are required to submit a “key assignment” for almost all education courses. The key assignment should be explained in the course syllabus, but students can view all extant key assignments by:
- Go to the Courses tab in Tk20
- In the left-hand menu, click on the Assignments link
- Click on an assignment’s name
- Click on the “Artifact” sub-tab and follow the instructions there
Please contact your course instructor if the key assignment is listed as late since being a little late in Tk20 does not always affect course grades. For help on submitting key assignments through Tk20 or recalling an un-graded assignment to makes changes to it, please refer to the Tutorial Center.
Near the end of a semester in which you are enrolled in a terminal course (e.g., Student Teaching/Practicum or educational research), you will be sent a link through Tk20 to complete an exit survey about your experience in your current education program. The link will appear in the Pending Tasks section of your Tk20 home page. Note that if you are enrolled in more than one terminal class, you may be sent more than one link; you need only complete the survey once per program and thus can ignore additional links.
Students in the Educational Leadership program are emailed a link to secure site through which they can submit their exit surveys. Please keep an eye out for an email from Dr. Samuels about this. If you do not receive an email a few months after you complete your program, please contact Dr. Samuels about having the link sent to you.
