High School Equivalency (HSE) Classes

High School Equivalency “HSE” classes prepare students for the reading, writing, science, social studies, and math TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) Test.  Students who pass the TASC Test earn a High School Equivalency diploma through the University of the State of New York State Education Department.  HSE students are required to participate in weekly College and Career Success Seminars.

Pre-High School Equivalency (PRE-HSE) Classes

Pre-High School Equivalency “PRE HSE” classes provide instruction which improve reading, writing and math skills. High school equivalency test subject areas (reading, social studies, science, writing, and math) are incorporated into PRE-HSE curriculum.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

English as a Second Language “ESL” classes provide English language instruction to students seeking to improve their ability to speak, understand, read, and write in the English language and have the goal to enter employment and/or college.  Upper level ESL students are required to participate in weekly College and Career Success Seminars.

TASC Test Information

Effective January 2014, New York State no longer offers the GED Test.  The high school equivalency test in New York is now the TASC-(Test Assessing Secondary Completion).   Refer to for future TASC Test dates.
