Day of the Dead: Living Traditions, Let Mexico Revive
CSI will welcome Dr. Lilia Cedillo Ramirez, President of BUAP Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, who will present the poster collection “Day of the Dead, Living Traditions, Let Mexico Revive,” a collection of posters from artists around the world.
This event will take place on Friday, Nov. 3. The exhibit will run from Nov. 3 until November 30.
The celebration of the Day of the Dead is one of the most deeply rooted and significant traditions of Mexican culture. The origins of the Day of the Dead are found in ancient Mesoamerican civilizations, such as the Aztecs, Mayans, and Purépechas, who believed in the existence of an afterlife. These cultures saw death as a natural and necessary stage in the cycle of life, and considered that the deceased continued to live on another plane, close to their loved ones.
