Writing Across the Curriculum/
Writing in the Disciplines
for Faculty & Staff

Created by a CUNY mandate in 1999, the WAC/WID program at the College of Staten Island works with faculty, programs, and departments to explore ways in which writing can enhance student learning, engagement, and success in all disciplines. In addition to publishing a newsletter on pedagogy, we conduct roundtables for all faculty on campus. We also give and develop workshops for individual faculty, and work with interested instructors to incorporate WAC strategies in new and existing courses. Finally, during the 2012-13 school year, we will be conducting a study that considers the challenges, motivations, and experiences CSI students have in their writing coursework, and examines pedagogical changes we can make to improve student writing. This website shows some of the work we have done so far, and it will continue to grow as we move forward. We invite you to apply with a project, come to our roundtables, use the resources we make available on our website and forthcoming newsletter, and to contact us.
