About Us

The Teacher Education Honors Academy at the College of Staten Island Offers:

  • Eligibility for four years of scholarships for chosen students accepted into the Teacher Education Honors Academy at CSI who maintain both an overall 3.0 GPA as well as a 3.0 GPA in their major
  • Internships to work with high school or middle school students
  • Study with exceptional faculty in science and mathematics
  • Hands-on experiences in New York City public middle or high schools
  • Eligibility for a full-time paid teaching position in a New York City middle school or high school upon successful completion of the entire Teacher Education Honors Academy program including course work, field work, and pre-employment screening
  • Opportunities to do research in math or science with CUNY faculty
  • Faculty mentors in education, mathematics and science
  • A dedicated Teacher Education Honors Academy space for study, meetings, group projects, and relaxation
  • A Teacher Education Honors Academy library of resources for teaching in middle and high school
  • An advisor dedicated to assisting Teacher Education Honors Academy students
  • Priority registration
  • Teacher Education Honors Academy students in good standing are eligible for Harcourt Foundation scholarships beginning in their sophomore year and renewable for the junior and senior year.
