Book Launch: Exiting the Bluegrass Turnpike
Exiting the Bluegrass Turnpike is the tender story of 17-year-old Zackary Kingdon walking through life after suffering a terrible trauma as he entered his senior year. He was then outed and treated horribly by fellow students, but Zack befriends Gwen, who had survived a car accident the prior summer. She becomes his closest friend, instantly accepting Zack as gay. Gwen professes her unique “mezzanine love” to Zackary, helping him feel someone cares for him. The story unfolds as Zack meets a college-age violinist who helps Zack finally feel great about himself. Then, the worst hate comes from his visiting siblings, who then privately reveal Zack’s truth to his father, whom Zack deeply loves. His life unravels. Exiting the Bluegrass Turnpike is the story of walking through life as a young, gay man in 1981, only to find the most unexpected love that ultimately saves him.
