Threnody for the Victims of a US-Backed Genocide

For the past two years, the U.S. government has provided 200,000 tones of munitions—13 times the volume of the bomb that obliterated Hiroshima—for a brutal assault on an enclave the size of Los Angeles, at an estimated cost to U.S. taxpayers of $500,000 per death and $200,000 per dismemberment. To honor the victims, William Bauer will premiere his improvised piano composition “Threnody for the Victims of a US-Backed Genocide,” woven into the fabric of Penderecki’s “Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima.”

As the timeless parable once asked: who is your neighbor?
