CSI Professional License Disclosure

Professional licensure or certification requirements vary from state to state. Therefore, it is important to understand licensing requirements in your state of residence before enrolling in a program that leads to professional licensure/certification. Listed below are the CSI academic programs that lead to licensure/certification. Programs omitted from the list do not lead to a professional licensure/certification.

CSI’s academic programs leading to licensure are designed to meet the New York State requirements. Licensing requirements in New York may not be recognized as sufficient to obtain licensure/certification in any other state. These disclosures are strictly limited to CSI’s determination of whether its programs, if successfully completed, would be sufficient to meet the licensure requirements. The College cannot provide verification of an individual’s ability to meet licensure requirements unrelated to its educational programming. Such individual determinations are made by state licensing boards. The following document includes the state licensing websites for each of CSI’s programs that lead to licensure.

Policy on Determining Student Location

Federal regulations (34 CFR § 668.43) and participation in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA) require institutions of higher education to determine if an academic program that leads to licensure/certification meets the educational requirements for licensure in the state in which the prospective or currently enrolled student resides. 

This policy applies to all CSI prospective and current students who are applying or are enrolled in credit-bearing academic programs that lead to licensure/certification. The process by which CSI determines a student’s location outlined below is for the purposes of meeting the requirements for licensure/certification only.

The location of prospective students is determined at the time of initial application. CSI uses the permanent address provided by students on their official application for admission to the College. This address is recorded in CUNYfirst, as part of students’ official record, and serves as the official student location for prospective students. The active permanent address in CUNYfirst serves as the official student location for currently enrolled students. It is the responsibility of students to maintain an accurate up-to-date permanent address on record with the College; and notify the Program Director of any change. A change of location is recognized by the College on the date the address update is officially processed and recorded in CUNYfirst. 

Upon entry into a program that leads to licensure/certification, students’ records will be reviewed to determine if the curriculum of the intended program does not meet state education requirements for licensure/certification in the state which the student resides. If the program does not meet a state’s requirements, a direct disclosure will be providing in writing (email or letter).

Out-of-State Student Enrollment in Programs that Lead to Licensure/Certification

If a program that leads to licensure/certification does not meet the educational requirements of the State students physically reside, students can only enroll in the program by agreeing to sign a written attestation. The written attestation verifies that the student understands they will be enrolling in and completing an academic program that leads to licensure/certification that does not meet educational requirements for licensure/certification in the State of their permanent residency. For example, if a student’s permanent residency is in New Jersey and wants to enroll in a licensure program that CSI has determined does not meet the educational requirements of New Jersey, the student must sign a written attestation to enroll in the program at CSI.
