Dalia Kandiyoti researches and teaches comparative diaspora and ethnic studies as well as gender studies. She has specialized in Latina/o literature, comparative studies of ethnicity and race in the Americas, as well as in global Jewish studies.

Professor Kandiyoti has published a book on diaspora literatures, identities, and theories entitled Migrant Sites: America, Place, and Diaspora Literatures (University Press of New England). She has published articles on Latina literature, transnational identities and gender, place in Holocaust writing, Sephardic history in literature, and alterity in French literature in journals such as Comparative American Studies, Contemporary Literature, Genders, MELUS, Modern Fiction Studies, and Studies in Jewish American Literature, and as well as in edited volumes.
