Dr. Antoniades is now a Professor in the Engineering Science and Physics Department at The College of Staten Island, The City University of New York where he joined in September of 2003. Since 2014, Prof. Antoniades has been the chairman of the Department of Engineering Science and Physics leading the organization through tremendous student enrollment growths, new undergraduate and graduate programs, successful ABET accreditation visits and increased research funding.   His current research interests include access and metro fiber optic communication systems with a strong research focus on the use of fiber optic technologies for system implementations in avionics platforms. During his academic career he has been funded by many major public and private funding sources. Prof. Antoniades is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the Photonics society and has been a technical committee member of various conferences and workshops in the telecommunications field.
