The purpose of this group is to encourage a stronger presence in the sustainability movement at the College of Staten Island. This group will be the voice of the student body when it comes to the ideation and implementation of various sustainability initiatives that will push our college to become more environmentally conscience.
Our mission is to increase sustainability of the campus by creating and sustaining a community garden that provides the campus center auxiliary service with fruits and vegetables. Instead of relying entirely on produce brought in by delivery trucks from distant farms, we incorporate students from a diverse array of CSI clubs and organizations into a volunteer community network system where the time that they put into maintaining the garden is returned in their own plot for themselves. In return, CSI alleviates some of its carbon footprint, students gain a sense of stewardship and reward
