Who is an international student?
You are considered an international student if you currently hold F-1 or J-1 status, you will need to change your current status to F-1 or J-1, or you will need an F-1 or J-1 visa to study at CSI.
You are not considered an international student if you are:
- A U.S. citizen or U.S. national (regardless of where you were born or grew up)
- A U.S. permanent resident (green card holder)
- An undocumented student (regardless of country of origin or background)
- A DACA recipient
- Holding another visa type (e.g. H-4, O-1, TN)

CSI admits international students under two visa categories. Understanding which one applies to you determines your next steps.

The F-1 is the standard visa for international students enrolling directly into a degree program. CSI's International Student Services issues your I-20 document after you are admitted.

The J-1 visa is for students participating in an approved exchange program, typically arranged through a sponsoring institution or government program in their home country.
