Computer Science Department Overview

The Computer Science Department offers programs that prepare students for careers as computer professionals and/or for continued study. The major provides a broad-based background in computer science and includes courses in computer software, computer systems, mathematics, network security, and computer hardware. We are committed to offering courses that stay current with changing technologies. Our BS degree is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology which means our program meets the highest national standards.

The Computer Science (CS) program features specializations in data science, high-performance computing, game development and network security, and has been accredited by ABET since 1989. CSI offers degrees in Computer Science from Associate through Masters, with an impressive job and salary growth rate in CS-related fields (estimated 489,000 new jobs by 2024).

Join us to discuss the accelerated BS/MS 4+1, which allows students to earn an MS in Computer Science in five years. A Doctorate is also offered jointly with The City University Graduate School Center. The Information Systems and Informatics (ISI) program is offered as an interdisciplinary collaboration between the CS Department and School of Business. Students learn to design, develop and implement state-of-the-art information systems which support managerial decision-making, statistical modeling, and advanced analytics.

Possible careers include business and systems analysts, developers; data administrators; information systems consultants; and managers in information technology.
