Verrazano School

An Overview of the Verrazano School Freshman Orientation

Incoming students enrolled in the Verrazano School Honors Program are required to attend the Verrazano School Freshman Orientation. This is a mandatory one-day program-specific orientation program designed specifically for the new Verrazano freshmen. Students who have been accepted into the program are required to participate in this program and should not register or participate in NSO.

In conjunction with the Verrazano School Honors Program, the Verrazano School Freshman Orientation is designed to help incoming Verrazano School students to acclimate to CSI, as well as, the Verrazano School Honors Program. In addition, the program will formally welcome incoming Verrazano School students and provide them with an overview of the Verrazano Program requirements, opportunities to engage with a cohort of other Verrazano School students in the program, and to meet faculty, staff, and upperclassmen New Student Orientation Leaders. The Verrazano School Freshman Orientation also provides Verrazano School students with information on academic expectations and what is expected both at CSI and the Verrazano School Honors Program. Incoming students will also participate in interactive teambuilding activities, and have the opportunity to learn more about what the Verrazano School Honors Program has to offer through a panel discussion with current Verrazano School students, as well as, alumni of the program.

Furthermore, the Verrazano School Freshman Orientation will provide incoming students with opportunities to learn more about the Center for Career and Professional Development and the Center for Global Engagement, as well as, other resources and support services on campus. Verrazano School students with also set-up their electronic accounts with the Office of Information Technology Services, and be provided a tour of our Library facilities. Lunch is also provided at the Verrazano School Freshman Orientation.

Please note, if you are participating in the Verrazano School Freshman Orientation, but have registered to attend NSO, you should contact New Student Programs at 718.982.2529 to cancel your NSO date. Incoming students participating in the Verrazano School Freshman Orientation do not need to attend or register for NSO.
